A couple of weeks ago, I was away a couple of days for business. When I came home, I saw that the lock was tampered with. Somebody tried to break open the lock.
Fortunately the criminals in question did not seem to be professionals and were not able to crack open this lock. Then it dawned upon me that because of the broken lock, I cannot use the door to enter my house. So I had to walk around the block to try the other door.
Again fortunately for me, the criminals were not professionals as they failed to open that door too.
Although as you can see they were able to pull out the cylinder. But despite that, they somehow were not able to get the house. Very fortunate for me.
The locksmith replaced all the locks and mentioned that I was indeed very lucky as they came very close to getting in with the last lock. Anyhow, locks have been replaced and I got a new set of keys.
So the last couple of weeks I've been looking in DIY shops for additional security and I have to say they do not offer a lot that I like. There are some additional locks that I can buy, but I cannot lock these from the outside, so I can only use them when I am at home. This defeats the purpose for me.
Or maybe I am worrying about nothing?
Last week I was away for business and at times I did think about possible B&E happening at home. So I guess for my own state of mind, I should get some additional security.
Some CCTV cameras, motion sensors controlling lights outside, timers controlling lights inside the house, additional locks, am I forgetting something?
