iPod-ShmyPod

AARRGG ... so I have an iPod Nano 7th Gen.

This is my 3rd iPod ... first one broke down a week a after it was out of warranty. So just a year old. Just poof, died and never turned on again.

I left my second iPod on the plane last year, on my way back from Singapore. I am not too sad about it, because it was that little squared one, which had no buttons and no rim to hold it.... but now I am drifting off

Anyways .... I finally bothered to put my CDs on my computer to add them to my iPod. I created beautiful ogg files (which can be played by my BB, btw). So now the hassle of getting these ogg files to my iPod, in such a way so I can actually play them from my iPod.

Since I have Linux running on my computer, this turns out to be quiet the torture.
Because it is the latest and greatest iPod Nano, of cource I can play music from my iPod, but cannot add new song to my iPod.

Thus I had to initialize my iPod on some Windows OS machine... oh, thrice for some F**&-ED-UP reason. First and second time, file were transferred, which I could see using the explorer and it was also mentioned by iTunes. However whenever I disconnected the iPod and wanted to listen to music, it said "no music"

Third time seems to be really a charm and at last, music was transferred and "visiable" to the shitty iPod.
HOWEVER ... half of my files are missing. Turns out iTunes can play OGG file, but the dumb-ass iPod cannot, so it won't even copy file to the piece-of-shit-device.

I am slightly annoyed that that piece-of-crap, to say the least!!!!!! And to add to the list of reasons why I should put it on the floor and stump on it until it is flat as a stamp, keeps on growing: it would NOT copy my MP4 to the crab-shit-device either, cause that pieace-of-junk-iPod cannot play the bloody MP4!!

AARRRGGG!!!!!!!!!

oh, by the by, my BB can play the MP4.

Anyhoo ... figured out a way to script the conversion from ogg to mp3:

for file in *.ogg;do oggdec -o "$(basename "${file}" .ogg).wav" "${file}";lame -b 320 -h -V 0 --vbr-new "$(basename "${file}" .ogg).wav" "$(basename "${file}" .ogg).mp3";rm -f "$(basename "${file}" .ogg).wav";done

Of course there might be a better way or nicer script, so I am open to suggestions :-)

So shitty-piece-of-junk has been reduced to a radio player for me.

Oh, the F*$&-ING dumb-ass-piece-of-shit, does not even last a day, WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!

Update on the iPod rant:
Now that I finally have some mp3s on my iPod, I noticed something I suppressed in the past: The iPod Nano has a "shake to shuffle" function, which works handy. HOWEVER, when the screen turns off (sleep mode or something) the shake function DOES NOT work anymore.
WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Instead, you have to get the thing out of sleep. How stupid can it get???
Oh, the internet says there are power setting on my iPod Nano, but they are nowhere to be found :-(
