The inevitable has happened. I had to give up my BB Bold and I am not the owner of a Sony Xperia Z1 phone. Said phone is Android based and saying it is large is an elephantine understatement!
And of course it is not the latest and greatest out there, especially when you consider that any time now, the new devices and operating systems will come out.
Anyways, the phone is not that bad. But for my taste it could have been a little wider, so you'd have a better grip using both hands to type ... Yes yes, you can tilt the phone, but that you'll only see the keyboard on screen and nothing else :-(
Because it is so narrow and long, it feels top-heavy to me and I am always afraid it will tip out of my hands when typing. Especially when you have no back cover case or bumper case.
This brings me to the next issue. Because the phone is so "old" there is hardly any store that sells any accessories, there are plenty online stores, but not a lot of variety in products.
Having a case, be it a bumper case or a back cover case, will increase the size of the phone even more and using a super thin case will have no added value in terms of protections.
Oh yeah, I said the phone is not too bad ... It seems speedy and battery lasts pretty long compared to my BB ... DUH! The thing is twice as large and twice as heavy!
Between iOS and Android, for me Android is the lesser evil as I am running Linux and have no use for iTunes. Also I have the Nexus 7 for a year now and since that runs Android as well, it is easier.
Oh, anybody interested in a Nexus 7 mint condition? Cause now I have no use for it anymore. Why you ask? Well the phone is the same but smaller. Furthermore I still prefer doing stuff on my laptop as suppose to using the tablet.
Why you ask again? Well, a laptop has a physical keyboard and screen is a tat bigger.
Back to why the phone is not too bad ... it is a company phone, so it is free. Hmm... like a real Dutch I only care for saving the pennies :-)
