On top of that my router zoned out and did not do what I wanted it to. So I had to do all kinds of boring configuration of devices for my home network to be up and running again.
Since the modem is a lease device from my ISP, some dude came by and installed the new device. A modem/router with 4 port hub and build it wireless LAN... Great, so why did I buy all this expensive equipment a couple of months ago??
So I decided to no use the Wireless LAN from the Ubee device for several reasons:
- The box is in the broom-closet so reception sucks, to say the least
- The box is pre-configured and I cannot change all that I want
Then my actual router gave me a hard time up to the point where I was not able to connect to it anymore. I think it missed me, while I was on holidays. I did not even try to VPN into my home network while I was away.
So after a long evening yesterday (I never get over my jet-lag this way) I finally have my home network up and running as it should.
Next on my list:
- get new work laptop operational
- transfer files from old laptop to new laptop
